The Newsletter with Land Values In MindThis is the first "global recession" of the modern age. We are witnessing the "downside of globalisation," where a crisis that began in the United States has infected all the world's major economies. At the recent World Economic Summit in Davos, Samuel DiPiazza, global chief executive of Pricewaterhouse Coopers, said the "speed and intensity of the recession has rocked the psyches of CEOs and created a global crisis of confidence". Business leaders in Brazil, Russia, India and China bullish about their economic prospects at the start of 2008, are now as concerned as their colleagues in Europe. Most economists now agree the recession began in late 2007 and recovery should be underway in mid 2010. Some CEO's (including Bill Gates) believe it will take longer because international capital markets require new regulation to protect against future collapse. Gates and some economists believe The restructuring of banking and international investment institutions will delay recovery of global trade for upto three years. While a majority of bosses hope to hold on to their staff, a quarter say they will cut jobs this year, and more than half will delay investments originally planned for 2009. A staggering 80% of CEO's are in favour of government regulation to deal with climate change. The real worry is looking forward to 2010 and the uncertainty about what's going to happen then. Over the next 2-3 years we are going to experience massive government intervention in the economy. Obama's proposed stimulus spending amounts to approximately $15,000 for every American household. This investment will not be spread equally across America. Where infrastucture spending occurs will have a major impact on property value. Where the new electrical grid goes will revalue large areas of wildnerness for solar and wind power opportunites. Over the next year our research will analyze how Obama's stimulus will impact specific real estate markets across America. If you wish to receive this information please sign up!
